Gifu Pharmaceutical University Pharmacy

Established: September 1998

This was the first pharmacy in Japan to be opened attached to a pharmacy university (Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences), and it is used for practical pharmacist training and research providing a sense of realism. In June 2004, the pharmacy was relocated to its current location and equipped with educational facilities for practical training with the latest dispensing equipment and a patient-friendly barrier-free environment to accommodate practical pharmacy training in the six-year system of pharmacy education.

The library is particularly well-stocked with pharmacy-related materials, with a collection of approximately 40,000 books and 30,000 bound journals. The library strives to maintain books, journals and other materials, as well as online journals and databases, to support learning, education and research.

Herbal Garden

Established: March 1971

More than 700 species of medicinal plants in 117 families, including those donated by our sister school in China, are cultivated and it is open to the public for five months every year.

Kawashima Memorial Experimental Farm

Established: August 1977

Background: Opened with generous donations from donor families

Objective: Researching the cultivation of medicinal herbs in cold climates

The Research and Development Center is located on a 33,912 m2 site in Konohara Plateau at the foot of Mount Norikura, and is used for education and research on the cultivation, breeding, and classification of cold climate medicinal plants (rhubarb, Siberian ginseng). Along with the University's Herbal Garden, numerous medicinal plants also contribute to education and research.
